Abstract. Purpose:To report the influence of central corneal thickness on intraocular pressure(IOP)and visual field in bilaterally affected glaucoma. Cases and Method:This study was performed on 60 eyes of 30 cases who were diagnosed with primary open-angle glaucoma including normal-tension glaucoma before treatment. The series comprised 7 males and 23 females. The age ranged from 26 to 77 years, average 50 years. All the cases received measurement of central corneal thickness,24-hour IOP,and automated perimetry by Humphrey. Results:There was no significant difference in visual field indices between eyes with thinner and thicker central corneal thickness. Difference in corneal thickness between each pair of eyes was significantly correlated with IOP(r=0.4,p<0.03)but not with visual field indices. Conclusion:The central corneal thickness is correlated with IOP but not with visual field defect in bilaterally affected glaucoma.
