Abstract. Purpose:To report the current status of treatment for glaucoma in 23 institutions. Cases and Method:Twenty-three institutions were asked to report the mode of topical treatment in 1,935 glaucoma patients. The series comprised 768 males and 1,167 females. The age averaged 66.8±13.5 years. There were 1,228 cases aged 65 years or over(senile patients)and 707 cases below 65 years(adult patients). Results:Senile and adult patients were receiving an average of 1.9±1.0 and 1.4±1.0 medications respectively. The difference was significant. Latanoprost was most frequently used as monotherapy. Gel-forming timolol, betaxolol and combination of latanoprost and gel-forming timolol were more frequently used by adult than senile patients. Conclusion:Senile and adult patients are receiving basically similar medical treatment for glaucoma.
