Abstract. Purpose:To report the outcome of filtering surgery for neovascular glaucoma. Cases and Method:This study was made on 16 eyes of 16 cases of neovascular glaucoma. The series comprised 14 males and 2 females. The age averaged 58.6±11.5 years. Glaucoma was due to diabetic retinopathy in 14 eyes, central retinal vein occlusion in 1 eye,and ocular ischemic syndrome in 1 eye. Each eye was treated by trabeculectomy with scleral tunnel and fornix-based conjunctival flap. Cases were followed up for 6 months or longer. Intraocular pressure(IOP)averaged 28.9±9.1 mmHg after medication and panretinal photocoagulation. Results:IOP significantly decreased to average of 15.7±7.9 mmHg after one month of surgery,18.3±9.8 mmHg after 3 months,16.1±6.3 mmHg after 6 months, and 12.4±4.0 mmHg at the end of follow-up. Conclusion:Trabeculectomy with scleral tunnel and fornix-based conjunctival flap induced control of IOP in 50 to 70% of eyes with neovascular glaucoma.
