Abstract. Purpose:To report the outcome of trabeculotomy for different types of glaucoma. Cases and Method:This retrospective study was made on 110 eyes of 93 patients who received trabeculotomy during the past 3 years and who could be followed up for one month or longer. The age ranged from 13 to 92 years, average 68 years. The series comprised primary open-angle glaucoma 31 eyes, primary closed-angle glaucoma 8 eyes, exfoliation glaucoma 32 eyes, steroid glaucoma 8 eyes, secondary glaucoma 13 eyes, and others 18 eyes. Results:The overall postoperative intraocular pressure(IOP)averaged 15 to 16mmHg. Success rate by life-table analysis was 65%, 47%, and 25% when the cut-off IOP level was set at 19, 16 and 14mmHg respectively. Exfoliation glaucoma showed the highest success rate. Success rate was independent of previous filtering surgery. Conclusion:Effect of trabeculotomy may differ for different types glaucoma. Trabeculotomy is one of the choices for glaucoma with previous filtering surgery.
