Abstract. Purpose:To report a case of miliary angiomatosis of Leber followed up for 17 years. Case and Findings:A 36-year-old male presented with impaired visual acuity in his right eye since 4 years before. He had been diagnosed with Coats disease before visiting us. His corrected visual acuity was 0.2 right and 2.0 left. The right eye showed aneurysms and circinate exudate extending from the macula and the inferior temporal quadrant. Photocoagulation applied to the aneurysms was followed by resolution of exudates and improved visual acuity. During the ensuing 17 years 11 months, retinal aneurysms recurred in other areas and had to be treated by photocoagulation. The right eye has received a total of 669 photocoagulation spots in 23 sessions. The visual acuity was 1.0 at the last visit. Conclusion:Laser photocoagulation may be effective in miliary angiomatosis of Leber when applied to retinal aneurysms. This case illustrates that aneurysms may recur in hitherto unexpected areas and that permanent cure may be difficult to attain.
