Abstract. Purpose:To report an unusual case with frosted opacity in the vitreous, lens capsule and ciliary body. Case:A 65-year-old female presented with blurring in her left eye. Blurring had persisted after cataract surgery 5 weeks before. Findings:Her corrected visual acuity was 1.0 right and 1.2 left. The right eye was free of pathological findings. The left eye showed intraocular lens with capsular fixation. Frosted granules were present on the posterior lens capsule, ciliary body and in the anterior vitreous. There were no anomalies in the anterior chamber or chamber angle. Systemic examinations showed normal findings. Biopsied specimen of the vitreous were free of pathogenic bacterial or fungal organisms. The white granules dissolved when processed for light or electron microscopy by conventional means. Frozen specimen showed congregated granules and tubules. Conclusion:The observed frosted opacity is presumed to consist of fatty compound.
