  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

We diagnosed two elderly persons with Harada disease. One was a 83-year-old female and the other a 68-year-old male. Both cases had typical clinical features of the disease and findings in the cerebrospinal fluid. The first case was treated by systemic corticosteroid. The disease recurred following premature discontinuation of medication due to hallucination and diabetes. She was then treated by systemic pulse corticosteroid and had been doing well. The second case had a history of peptic ulcer,so that systemic corticosteroid was contraindicated. He was successfully treated by subconjunctival corticosteroid. These cases illustrate that Harada disease may devlop in senile persons. Topical corticosteroid may be effective if systemic corticosteroid is contraindicated.
