Purpose:To report three cases of eyeball rupture treated by vitrectomy with no previous sutures. Cases:This report concerns two males and one female aged 35, 50 and 56 years respectively. They showed no injury in the conjunctiva or cornea. All had vitreous hemorrhage. They received no primary suture to the site of eyeball rupture. After spontaneous closure of the wound, vitrectomy was performed on day 19, 34, and 45 after injury. All had developed proliferative vitreoretinopathy(PVR). The retina was reattached after multiple surgeries. Final corrected visual acuity was 0.1, 0.7 and 0.1 respectively. Conclusion:Primary suture of the wound is advocated for eyeball rupture. Good outcome is expected by performing vitrectomy with no primary suture in cases that satisfy certain conditions.
