  • Look Inside

We observed two cases of blunt ocular trauma resulting in eyeball rupture, giant retinal tear and retinal detachment. One case was a 50-year-old female with total retinal detachment. Vitrectomy was performed 34 days after injury. The retina became reattached and the visual acuity recovered to 0.2. Another case was a 45-year-old male. The eyeball had ruptured over 270 degrees over the equator. The retina in the inferior hemisphere had adhered to the superior wound. Vitreous surgery resulted in temporary reattachment. The eye became phthisic following removal of intravitreal silicone oil.
