Abstract. A 50-year-old woman had received LASIK in her left eye 4 years before. She visited us because of no improvement in visual acuity after surgery. Her right eye had been amblyopic. Her visual acuity was 0.06 right and 0.5 left after correction by-24D and-22D respectively. Her left cornea showed thinning and steepening in the center. The corneal thickness was 514μm right and 358μm left. Corneal topography showed findings compatible with the diagnosis of keratectasia. Visual acuity of 0.9 was obtained by correction with piggybag contact lens. In view of the currently accepted indications for LASIK,an excessive amount of keratomileusis seems to have induced keratectasia in the present case.
