Abstract Purpose:To evaluate the visual performance of the eyes with implantation of an extended range of intraocular lenses(IOLs)after laser in situ ketratomileusis(LASIK).

Methods:This retorospective study included 41 eyes of 25 patients who had received an extended range of IOLs(ZXR00, Johnson & Johnson Vision)after LASIK(LASIK group;23 eyes of 14 patients)or without LASIK(control group;18 eyes of 11 patients). Uncorrected and distance corrected logMAR visual acuities(UCVA and DCVA, respectively)at 5 m, 1 m, and 0.5 m and contrast sensitivity were assessed 3 months postoperatively.

Results:The mean logMAR UCVAs(DCVAs)of control/LASIK groups were −0.09(−0.14)/−0.04(−0.17)for 5 m, 0.04(−0.01)/−0.05(−0.05)for 1 m, and 0.16(0.04)/0.13(0.06)for 0.5 m. Although contrast sensitivities were within the normal range in both groups at all special frequencies, the control group was significantly better than the LASIK group at 18 cpd(p=0.03;unpaired t-test)

Conclusions:Implantation of EDOF IOL, ZXR00, after LASIK provides excellent vision from far to intermediate distance, although there is a slight concern of decreased of contrast sensitivity at high spatial frequencies.
