A five-year review of clinical features of endophthalmitis

要約　過去5年間に加療した眼内炎36例36眼につき，原因，治療法，予後を中心に検索した。男性20例，女性16例であり，年齢は15歳から85歳，平均62歳であった。原因は，角膜潰瘍18眼，外傷7眼，手術6眼，内因性1眼であり，4眼では不明であった。治療は，薬剤投与のみ18眼，前房洗浄3眼，硝子体手術8眼，眼球摘出または内容除去7眼であった。多変量解析で，感染の範囲と発症から治療までの間隔が視力の転帰に有意な影響を与えると判断された。

Abstract.　We reviewed 36 cases of endophthalmitis treated by us during the past 5 years. All were unilaterally involved. The series comprised 20 males and 16 females. Their age ranged from 15 to 85 years,average 62 years. The endophthalmitis was secondary to corneal ulcer 18 eyes,trauma 7 eyes,surgery 6 eyes and unknown 5 eyes including 1 eye of endogenous endophthalmitis.Eighteen cases were treated by drug administration alone. Irrigation of anterior chamber was performed in 3 eyes and vitrectomy in 8 eyes. Eventual enucleation or evisceration had to be performed in 7 eyes. Multivariate analysis showed the range of infection and the interval between onset and treatment to be significant factors in the visual outcome.
