Abstract Purpose:This study aimed to evaluate a 5-year statistical analysis of conjunctival, eyelid, and orbital tumors that were histopathologically diagnosed at the International University of Health and Welfare(IUHW), Narita Hospital.

Methods:We analyzed 156 cases of conjunctival, eyelid, and orbital tumors that were histopathologically confirmed at IUHW, Narita Hospital, between March 2020 and March 2025. The proportions of benign and malignant tumors by anatomical site and the proportion of malignant lymphomas were examined. These findings were compared with the 10-year statistics from the Department of Ophthalmology at Chiba University.

Results:The cohort consisted of 77 men and 79 women, and the mean age at the time of pathological diagnosis was 63.1±19.3 years. Of the 156 cases, 134 were conjunctival or eyelid tumors, while 22 were orbital tumors. In total, 109 of the conjunctival and eyelid tumors were benign and 25 were malignant. Among the orbital tumors, 19 were benign and three were malignant. The 28 malignant tumors included 12 malignant lymphomas, two sebaceous carcinomas, eight basal cell carcinomas, three squamous cell carcinomas, one malignant melanoma, one carcinoma in situ, and one metastatic tumor. All 12 cases of lymphoma were diagnosed as Mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue(MALT) lymphomas. The proportion of malignant lymphomas among all 156 cases was 7.7%, which was markedly lower than the 19.9% reported in the 10-year statistics from Chiba University Hospital.

Discussion and Conclusion:The proportion of malignant lymphomas in our study was lower than that previously reported. This discrepancy may be influenced by regional demographic composition, healthcare access, and hospital-clinic collaboration systems.
