Abstract. Purpose:To report the hypotensive effect of latanoprost for normal-tension glaucoma. Cases and Method:This study was made on 25 eyes of 25 patients comprising 12 males and 13 females. Their ages ranged from 37 to 87 years, average 62 years. Intraocular pressure(IOP)was measured between 9 to 11 o'clock in the morning. The base line IOP averaged 15.5±2.4mmHg. Patient was defined as non-responder when IOP decreased by 10% or less or when latanoprost had to be switched to other medications. Results:The average IOP reduction rates 18.0% 6 months later and by 20.7% 12 months later. There were 4(27%)non-responders at 12 months. Conclusion:Latanoprost induced significant IOP decrease in normal-tension glaucoma when IOP was measured at about 10 o'clock in the morning. There is a possibility to have to replace latanoprost by other medications on a long-term basis.
