  • Look Inside

A 72-year-old woman presented with reduced vision and pain in her right eye since 2months before. Her visual acuity was 20/600 right and 20/15 left. The intraocular pressure was 8mmHg right and 12mmHg left. Her right eye had bullous retinal detachment in the lower periphery. The retinal detachment shifted its position by changing the head position. B-scan ultrasonography and computerized tomography(CT)showed thickening of posterior sclera, suggesting posterior scleritis. Peroral prednisolone at the daily dosis of 60mg was followed by disappearance of retinal detachment 3months later. The visual acuity improved to 20/100. This case illustrates that posterior scleritis may cause retinal detachment with shifting subretinal fluid.
