  • Look Inside

We reviewed 112 eyes of 104 patients of bullous keratopathy during the foregoing 13 years 4 months. The series comprised 52 eyes of 52 males and 60 eyes of 52 females. Their ages averaged 70.9 years. There was a tendency for bullous keratopathy to increase during the recent years. Its incidence was 29 eyes in 2002. Bullous keratopathy was secondary to intraocular lens(IOL)35 eyes(31.3%),laser iridotomy 18 eyes(16.1%),aphakia 11 eyes(9.8%),and glaucoma 10 eyes(8.9%)among others. Bullous keratopathy following laser iridotomy was more frequent in females. When evaluated for 10 years up to 1998 and for 4 years after 1999,the latter period showed higher incidence of bullous keratopathy secondary to IOL and laser iridotomy.
