  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

Clinical history and findings of a case of micturi-tion syncope was presented. The patient, 56 aged man, had revealed 5 times micturition syncope during the past several years. Each attack had occured exactly during or immediately after mictu-rition under a certain particular condition.

Possible mechanisms of micturition syncope were studied and suggested by many authors. However, even if these proposals could interpret the mechanism of syncope triggered by micturition, it to clarify why a few persons faints by micturition will be unable at restricted circumstances.

From the study of our case and the past reported cases, the authors have found that the patients of micturition syncope reveal a tendency of parasym-pathetic hypertonia and the episodes of syncope had occurred at situations yielding vagotonic state to the individuals.

Thus, it seemed to be that a micturition will be a trigger of syncope episode, only when the patients with a vagotonic tendency in a vagotonic state.

The authors have concluded that the micturition syncope could be one of the utmost condition of vagotonia in vagotonic persons.
