  • Abstract
  • Look Inside

(1) Sleep EEG of 12 aged subjects with dementia was studied comparing with that of the aged healthy subjects and that of the young normals.

(2) Aged subjects slept shorter and awoke more fre-quently in the night than young subjects.

(3) The amount of sleep stage with high voltage slow waves was less in the aged subjects.

(4) Spindle bursts were markedly decreased in the aged subjects with dementia.

(5) The change in the sleep EEG of the aged sub-jects with dementia might be due to the cortical atrophy.
