Clinical antiepileptic effects of Tegretol 〔5-car-bamyl-5H-dibenzo (b,f)-azepinkigou〕, a new anticonvul-sant, were scrutinized on 34 epileptic out-patients in our clinic. The results obtained were as follows:

1) Tegretol produced good results for relief of grand mal in 70% and of psychomotor seizures in 55cli, approximately.

2) A slight improvement of the epileptic psychical disturbances was observed.

3) EEG studies on 17 patients revealed that the decrease in clinical attacks was parallel to the decrease in epileptic discharges.

4) Undesirable side effects such as dizziness, head-ache and drowsiness were observed but were transient only when the dose was increased grad-ually.
