  • Look Inside

Pre- and postoperative electroencephalogra-phy of our 4 cases and 21 cases in literature, which were submitted to hemispherectomy for infantile hemiplegia, are studies.

On the operative indication of hemispherec-tomy, it is ideal that the lesion localizes in the hemisphere of the other side as the he-miplegia. But the dominant abnormal activi-ties in EEG. had been observed on the same side as the hemiplegia in our one case and 3 out of 21 cases of literature, on the bilate-ral sides of brain in our two cases and 3 out of the cases of literature before operation. Following hemispherectomy of the other side as the hemiplegia, these abnormal activities on the remained hemisphere have been im-proved and disappeared in all cases.

The amplitude of activities on the remo-ved side have showed in generally less than one of the opposite side, and on the remai-ned side have been markedly diminished as compared with the preoperative activities in our one case.
