  • Look Inside

A Japanese boy, who underwent total re-moval of pineal body teratoma, 15g in weight, when he was 7 years old, was reported, especially. follow-up study four and a half years after opartion.

He has grown not only in body length, the girth of the head and the chest, body weight, but also in intelligence as average boy of the same years old. He complains neither of pressure syndrome, visual disturbance, motor and sensory disturbances, precocious puberty and nor of paralysis of upward gaze. He has, however, convulsive attacks a few times a year and he is observed to have epileptic discharge from right temporopari-etal region in EEG. He is found left under homonimous quadrantanopsia and right slight ptosis and mydriasis.

The authors emphasize that the patient is able to grow up after total removal of pineal body tumor without any remarkable com-plaint except with epileptic seizure control-lable with anticonvulsant drug and with slight ophthalmologic symptoms.
