鬱病及び分裂病に対する中枢刺激剤"Ritalin"の使用経験

CLINICAL EXAMINATION OF "RITALIN", A CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM STIMULANT, FOR DEPRESSION AND SCHIZOPHRENIA

　ciba製品で合成した中枢神経刺激剤"Ritalin"の臨床実験を行い，次の結果を得た。

　抑欝状態を示す6例では全て，有効であり，寛解又は軽快を見た。抑鬱感情，不全感，病的悲哀感，精神運動制止等の諸症状にはとくに効果があるが，不安状態の強い例では一時的に却つて悪化することがあり，心気症にも効果は少い。したがつて，症例の撰択が必要である。

　分裂病の6例について，とくに自発性減退を指標として効果を検討したが，著効は見られなかつた。

　副作用は殆んどなく，習慣性もないために，長期投与ができる。

After clinical examination with "Ritalin" (Methyl-phenidate Hydrochloride), which has been introduced as a new central nervous system stimulant by Ciba, we obtained follo-wing results.

In regard to 7 cases of depressive state, the indication of Ritalin has turned out all effective and shown remission or improve-ment satisfactorily. It is especially more effective for emotional depression, feeling of insufficiency, pathological sadness and psy-chomotoric retardation, but, when applied to patients who had anxiety syndrome, sometimes it made them take a serious turn temporarily, and in cases of hypochondrical syndrome we could not expect any favourable effect.

With respect to cases of schizophrenia, we tested influences of the drug in view of deficiency of initiativity, but no good effect was observed.

As Ritalin has few side-effects and no ten-dency of habituation, we can make use of this drug rather safely for a prolonged time.
