 The present study examined the norm and cut-off values of the Nursery School Teacher Rating Developmental Scale for Children-Revised (NDSC-R) for each 3-month age period in a community sample of 10,387 preschoolers. In order to correct for the influence of ceiling effects, we estimated the means and standard deviations in cases where a ceiling was absent, by excluding the upper scores that were affected by the ceiling effect from the estimation of the normal distribution of scores. Three cut-off values were calculated on the basis of the estimated means and standard deviations. The relative frequencies of the four groups that were divided by the cut-off values corresponded to the relative frequencies in the normal distribution, indicating the validity of the estimated means and standard deviations and the cut-off values.
