SCENIC-ICS(Surveillance for Colorectal Endoscopic Neoplasia Detection and Management in Inflammatory Bowel Disease Patients International Consensus Statement)refers to statements regarding the procedures of colonoscopic surveillance and descriptions of UCAN(ulcerative colitis-associated neoplasia). SCENIC-ICS recommends chromoendoscopy for the detection of UCAN and endoscopic resection for the management of well-circumscribed lesions.

Following the complete removal of endoscopically resectable UCAN, continuing surveillance colonoscopy is suggested rather than colectomy. Since the publication of SCENIC-ICS, there have been rigorous discussions regarding the endoscopic diagnosis and management of UCAN in Western countries. This suggests that SCENIC-ICS has provided an initial step for the establishment of up-to-date, standardized surveillance colonoscopy for UCAN in the era of advancement of endoscopic instrumentation.
