Characteristic skin manifestations appearing in association with specified internal disorders are termed“dermadromes”. The presence of dermadromes may contribute to the detection of malignant tumors of the internal organs. The gastrointestinal tract is connected to the skin, and both are in contact with the external environment. Thus, many dermadromes are recognized in association with other organs. From the viewpoint of organ classification, dermadromes of the gastrointestinal tract can be classified as four disorders:1)the selective influence of the gastrointestinal tract and the skin ; 2)partial symptoms of systematic disease ; 3)a secondary gastrointestinal disorder derived from skin diseases ; and 4)a secondary skin disorder derived from gastrointestinal diseases. Knowing the pathology of digestive disorders and the related skin diseases helps to understand the pathogenesis and appropriate clinical responses.
