A 75 year-old man visited the First Department of Internal Medicine, Nagoya City University, Hospital with a chief complaint of epigastric pain.
Upper gastrointestinal x-ray series were done on July 22, 1972 and revealed a slightly elevated lesion with granular surface at the posterior wall of the middle gastric body. Endoscopic examination was performed on July 25, 1972. An irregularly shaped and discolored mucosal elevation with granular surface was observed at the posterior wall of the middle gastric body. Adenocarcinoma was confirmed by biopsy. The diagnosis of early gastric cancer, type Ⅱa was made.
