A 53-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital on June 3, 1980. She had experienced dyspepsia with occasional epigastric pain since January 1980. Upper gastrointestinal x-ray and endoscopy by a neighboring doctor revealed abnormality around the incisura of the stomach. Appendectomy was done at the age of 34. There was nothing in particular in the family history.
Physical examination revealed no abnormal findings. Blood count, blood chemistry and urinalysis were within normal limits. Stool was negative for occult blood. Chest and plain abdominal films were normal.
