要旨
目的:赤十字社の国際救援活動に従事したHead Nurse(以下,HN)の看護管理実践の内容を明らかにする.
方法:赤十字社の国際救援活動に従事したHN7名に半構造的面接を実施し,得られたデータを質的記述的に分析した.
結果:看護管理実践の内容は【赤十字の理念を具現化する】【人道支援組織の管理者として意思決定する】【限られた資源を最大限に活用する】【非日常の環境下において要員の安全確保や不測の事態に対応する】【受益者と要員の多様性を尊重し関係を構築する】【要員が国際救援活動の知識やスキルを獲得し能力向上できるように支援する】【セルフマネジメントする】の7つに集約した.
結論:HNはセルフマネジメントを基盤に,赤十字の理念の具現化のために,受益者・要員との関係を構築し,要員としての成長を支援しつつ,限られた資源を最大限活用していた.安全確保や不測の事態への対応と看護管理者としての意思決定をしていた.
Objective: To elucidate the content of nursing management practices of head nurses engaged in international relief work for the Japanese Red Cross Society.
Methods: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with seven head nurses who had worked in international relief for the Japanese Red Cross Society. The interview data were analyzed qualitatively and descriptively.
Results: This study identified head nurses' nursing management practices, including embodying the Red Cross philosophy, making decisions as a manager of a humanitarian organization, effectively using limited resources, ensuring staff safety and responding to contingencies in unusual environments, respecting the diversity of beneficiaries and staff and building relationships with them, assisting staff to acquire and improve their knowledge and skills in international relief work, and engaging in self-management.
Conclusion: The head nurses embodied the Red Cross philosophy by building relationships with beneficiaries and staff, assisting staff to acquire and improve their knowledge and skills in international relief work, and maximizing limited resources in nursing management practice. They also ensured staff safety, responded to contingencies in unusual environments, and made a range of managerial decisions. Furthermore, self-management was fundamental to nursing management practice.
