Mild encephalitis/encephalopathy with a reversible splenial lesion（MERS）とは，可逆性の脳梁膨大部病変を有する，臨床的に軽症な脳炎・脳症のことで，2004年にTadaら^1）により報告され，我が国からの報告が多い。今回，MERS 2型と考えられる2症例を経験した。臨床症状と特徴的な画像の経過を把握しておくことが，診断においてきわめて有意義であると思われたため，若干の文献的考察を加えて報告する。

MERS is a clinico-radiological syndrome with a transient mild neurological course and benign prognosis. We report two cases of MERS type 2 associated with influenza and Kawasaki disease.

According to the previous reports, MERS is classified into two types；MERS type 1 and type 2. In type 1, the lesion is ovoid in the center of the corpus callosum. MERS type 2 is rare and the lesions are seen in both the corpus callosum and bilateral centrum semiovale. It is important to distinguish MERS from other clinically severe encephalitis.
