Abstract

 The purpose of this research is to clarify the psychological problems induced by the isolated circumstances. The subjects are 1331 patients(158inpatients, 232outpatients, 861 stool examination only, untreated) related to the mass outbreak of dysentery in 1998. Methods: The data obtained by the questionnaire survey based on the GHQ-30 item edition are analyzed by the various statistic aalpproaches. Results are as follows.

 1)The incidence rate of mental disability in our subjects is 21.8%(290/1331)which indicates the lower ratio, compared with natural disasters(average 67%), earthquake so on.

 2)As for the influenced items to the score of GHQ-30 , "admission period" "understanding for quarantine", "physical symptom", "trouble after excretion", "anxiety for the family and office", "irritatio nby non-restricted patient' seyes", "dissatisfactio nfor the lack of telephone booth" are revealed as the dominant factors.

 3)The factor structure of the stress related to the isolated conditions is mainly caused by the following five factors; Those are "anxiety, tension, lack of sleep", "incompetence", "depression", "social dysfunction", "hopeless less".

 4)The results of the stress, analysis suggests that the psychological care will be necessary to outpatients as well as to inpatients and.
