ICUでは，患者の状態に応じてさまざまな薬剤が使用されている。なかでも，カテコールアミンなどの心血管作動薬，フェンタニルやミダゾラムなどの鎮痛鎮静薬，βラクタム系薬などの抗菌薬，ほかにもステロイドやインスリンといった薬剤は使用頻度が高い。こうした薬剤を適切な投与方法や投与量で使用するためには，薬剤そのものの作用部位や作用様式についてはもちろんのこと，薬理作用が変化する要因などの理解が必要となる。本稿では，ICUで使用される代表的な薬剤の薬理作用について述べる。

In the intensive care unit, a variety of drugs are used depending on the patient's condition. Among them, cardiovascular agonists such as catecholamines, analgesics and sedatives such as fentanyl and midazolam, antibiotics such as beta-lactams, steroids, and insulin are frequently used. To administer these drugs using an appropriate route and dosage, it is necessary to understand the point of action, mechanism of action, and factors that alter the pharmacological effects of the drugs. In this article, we will discuss the pharmacological effects of typical drugs used in the intensive care unit.
