I．緒言

　側頭骨のCT診断では多くの情報が得られ検査法としては信頼性が高い，この場合装置の制約から断層面として冠状と軸位面のいずれかが選択されているが，その診断的価値については定着しているといってよい．ただ側頭骨の諸構造は複雑な細部構造をもつということもあって，これ以外の縦位あるいは矢状面などの断層面によるほうが一層良好に描出される構造もみられる。そこでここでは錐体の長軸に平行な縦位面について検討し，本断層面が蝸牛と後半規管など内耳諸構造の描出に有用であったので報告する。

　The direct longitudinal CT of the temporal bone was carried out on patients with car diseases. This view was useful for the evaluation of the petrous pyramid and inner ear structures, particularly the oval window, round window, cochlea, posterior semicircular canal and carotid canal. In addition, this technique allowed simultaneous evaluation of the adjacent structures of the petrous pyramid, including foramen lacerum, foramen ovale and sphenoid sinus. However, the procedure was unsatisfactory for the delineation of the internal and external auditory canal, causing the angulation of the long axes of these canals to the plane of tomographic section.
