I．はじめに

　最近成人扁桃凋囲膿瘍の診断のもとに治療を受けたが治療に抵抗し，一時悪性腫瘍も疑ったが諸検査の結果副咽頭間隙に広範な膿瘍を形成した1症例を経験したので，若干の考察を加え報告する。

　A 35-year-old female with a large parapharyngeal abscess had been treated by surgical incision and drainage several times, and by chemotherapy for about 2 months. She received tonsillectomy followed by an extended incision in the parapharyngeal space for drainage, and topical application of antibiotics. The therapy was effective, and the patient made successful and complete cure. Anatomical, bacteriological, and diagnostic considerations on the treatment of parapharyngeal abscess were discussed.
