I．はじめに

　従来，水俣病に伴う言語障害は，主として，小脳性障害に随伴する構音障害が多く，随意言語にみられる単調性緩慢化が特徴的で，言語が不明瞭なことが多いとされている^1）。しかし，胎児性水俣病の患者では，成人期における中毒症とは異なって，中枢神経系が広汎に障害され，言語障害は運動障害，知覚障害等と同様に高度なことが多い^2,3）。

　今回我々は，水俣病患者の言語障害について，その構音障害解明の一手段として，エレクトロパラトグラフによる舌運動の解析を試みた。その結果，若干の興味ある新知見が得られたのでここに報告する。

　The lingual movements were studied using the electropalatograghic system in four patients with Minamata disease associated with articulation disorders. In these patients, vowels /a//i//u//e//o/ and consonats /t//r/ showed different patterns and shapes from those of normal subjects. It was shown that the variable dysarthria was composed of disturbances of three dismesional and synchronous movements in articulation related to the tongue, hard palate and jaw movements.
