  • Look Inside

A 30-year-old male had a swelling of the sizeof a hen's egg in the right submandibular region. The blood examination showed a slight increase of neutrophiles and a remarkable increase of eosinophiles (42%). After the lesion was removed by a surgical procedure, the patient was treated by irradiation of Liniac in the dosage of 2000 rads. When recurrence of the tumor was seen 21 months after the surgery, IgE level of serum showed the value above 8000 units. Allergic intracutaneous test was positive to candida. It is assumed that the cause of eosinophilic granuloma may be an allergic reaction, and it is necessary to measure the serum IgE level and to perform an allergic intracutaneous test.
