　I．緒言

　verrucous carcinomaは，1948年Ackerman^1）によってはじめて記載された比較的悪性度の低い扁平上皮癌であるといわれている。本腫瘍の報告は大部分が口腔領域で^1〜15），側頭骨に発生したverrucous carcinomaの報告は，我々が検索しえた限りでは，Woodson^16）の1例のみである。我々の教室では，過去に上顎歯肉部に発生したverrucous carcinomaの1例^2）を報告したが，今回は，中耳原発と思われる側頭骨verrucous carcinomaの1例を経験したので，文献的考察を併せ報告する。

　A case of verrucous carcinoma arising in the middle ear of a 72-year-old male is reported. The right external auditory meatus was full of a keratinizing mass which was extensively infected. X-ray studies showed a wide destruction of the middle ear and mastoid, which suggested of middle ear tumor. Several operations and biopsies were performed and the final diagnosis was verrucous carcinoma.

　Two years post-operatively the patient was free of recurrence.
