I．はじめに
近年福祉制度の充実，医療の進歩に伴い社会人口の老齢化は顕著となり，老人医療は各科において真剣に取り組まなくてはならない課題となつた。耳鼻咽喉科領域においても日常診療においてしばしば認められる鼻出血をはじめ，難聴・平衡障害・および悪性腫瘍などが該当する。今回，われわれは1976年1月より12月までに鼻出血を主訴として当外来を受診した184例について60歳以上の高齢者の群と，59歳以下との2群に分け検討を行なつた。さらに，高齢者における鼻出血の特徴をよりくわしく調べるため，1974〜1975年までの2年間に鼻出血のため入院治療を要した36例を加えた計59例について検討を行なつた。この結果高齢者においては単なる局所的なものばかりではなく，全身疾患の一症状となつている事もまれでなく十分なる観察の必要性が認められたので報告する。
The following 6 characteristics of nasal bleeding in the aged persons were clarified by the clinical observations of 220 patients with nasal bleeding.
1) Male was twice as many as female.
2) The frequent bleeding occurred in winter than any other seasons.
3) The bleeding occurred mostly between 5 : 00 P.M. and 7 : 00 A.M.
4) The bleeding had a tendency of prolonged hemostasis.
5) The bleeding from Little's area was observed in 38% of the patients.
6) The circulatory disease and renal disease were highly recognized as the underlying cause of nasal bleeding.
