機能性食道狭窄症の1例

FUNCTIONAL STRICTURE OF THE ESOPHAGUS

　I．緒言

　われわれは，機能性に発症したと思われる稀有なる食道閉塞の一症例を経験したので，臨床経過，および，その背景にあるものについて述べ，併せて若干の考察を行なつた。

　We have experienced a case of functional disruption of swallowing that began about 1 month previously, but gradually worsened until the patient became completely devoid of the act of swallowing. Esophageal examinations were made under fluoroscopy and direct esophagoscopy under local anesthesia. After establishing a fistula the esophagus was reexamined with esophagoscopy under a general anesthesia. No anatomical anomaly was found. The case was diagnosed as a functional disturbance.

　The patient was a man, aged 62, holding a seat of a faculty member of a university. He was particularly under stress by problems related to radical activities of the students, the lack of satisfactory communications that exist among the young and the elders, etc. Besides, the patient was highly sensitive in his psychological make-up and often worried about his past illnesses. It is highly probable that these elements were the basis upon which the present symptoms developed.

　The patient was hospitalized for the period of 3 months during which period he made a complete recovery. At present 8 months later the patient is symptom-free.
