I．はじめに
Burkitt腫瘍は，1958年英国の外科医Dennis Burkitt1）によつて，中央アフリカの小児の下顎に好発する腫瘍として初めて発表された。1960年，O'Conorら2）は，本疾患が悪性リンパ腫に属すると報告した。
本疾患は初め，中央アフリカの地方病とみられていたが，その後，北米3）4），英国5），日本6）7）など世界各地から散発的に報告されており，本邦では1969年大星ら6）7）により，その第1例が報告されている。以後著者らの症例に至るまでの5年間に18例の報告を数えるのみで，まだ本邦ではまれな疾患と考える。
A case of Burkitt's tumor found in a boy, aged 8, is reported along with a study of literature on the relation of this disease to EB virus. The patient was a native of the City of Tokyo, whose chief complaint was epistaxis that came from the upper pharynx. Following hospitalization the patient was given intravenous drip of antitumor agents (BLM 10mg, ENX 100mg and VCR 0.5 mg) which proved to be ineffective. The patient died 3 months later. Irradiation treatment and operative treatment were not attempted.
Of the 18 cases of Burkitt's disease reported in the literature of this country, EB virus antibody was found in 10 cases. Of these 10 cases none has shown the presence of antibodies more than 640. When these results are compared to those of normal individuals the amount appears to be somewhat less than normal. This unusual result might be due to the fact that the number of cases are, yet, so small.
