日耳63回総会で上顎癌のシンポジアムが行われその診断の部門を担当した。関東地方会で上顎癌の治療特に手術について見解をのべたが，それに少しく加筆したのがこの小論である。
From observations on the opertive treatm-ents of maxillay cancer reported at the Six-ty Third Symposium for Maxillary Cancers. Kitamura concludes that the bad prognosis in such an operation as reported in the Sym-posium is mainly due the fact that en bloc operation was not carried out in these cases. This fact was clearly shown by author's ex-perience in management of maxillary cancers for the recent 5 years in which various cure rates and operative methods were compara-tively studied.
Moreover, the prognosis of the operative treatment is bad if when dental extraction and/or removal of nasal polyp are performed immediately prior to the performance of an en bloc operation.
To obtain a good prognosis in this operati-ve treatment the diagnosis of the cancer must be firmly established, the extent of the can-cerous influence should be well studied and the maxillary cancer should be removed in en bloc with ample space of maneuver for such a purpose.
