　I．序言

　ここ数年来突如として発症する所謂突発性難聴（sudden deafness）に関する報告が多く見られるようになり，その臨床所見も略々確定された感がある。然し本症の原因に就いては，種々の論説はあるが未だ全く不明であり，為にその治療に関しても決定的な方法は見られないのが現状である。

　私は最近20歳女子に起つた突発性難聴に対し，F. A. D.（Flavin adenine dinucleotide）の頸動脈内注射を行い短期間に全治せしめることを得たので，此処に報告する。

　The use of F A D (Flavin adenine dinucleotide) resulted in obtaining an early recovery of loss of hearing that came with a spontaneous onset in an unmarried girl aged 20. Various treatments such as administration of vitamin B₁, inject ions of sodium bicarbonate solution, and, chondroitin sulfate have been used previously without any success. By administration of F A D through the carotid artery intra-arterially the author believes the agent to be instrumental in enhancing metabolic processes in the inner ear to recover the function that had been lost.
