頭部外傷による失声の1治療例

　喉頭の運動麻痺，殊に中枢性麻痺は比較的稀に見る疾患であるが，私共は，最近頭部外傷による半身不随及び難聴を伴つた失声の一例を経験し，開頭手術により幸に治癒したので茲に報告する次第である。

Takayama and associates report a case of aphonia due to head trauma. A man aged 25, complained of a complete loss of voice since he was struck on the head with a stick months ago: he was unconscious for several days at the time. Examination revealed a slight motor paralysis of the muscles in both extre-mities, slight loss of hearing by air and bone conduction and the left vocal cord to be devoid of movement by being in a cadaveric position. The brain cavity on the left side appeared to be somwhat enlarged by being pushed over towards the right. Other examinations in the field of eye, ear, nose and throat appeared to be normal. With the diagnosis of central cause for the basis of aphonia cranial operation was performed: edema that extended from the temporal region to that of the occipital was the only positive findings. After this operation the patient recovered his voice in about 2 and the mechanism of this recovery appeared to be unexplainable excepting for a possible release of intracranial pressure thereby.
