ヂフテリアおよびヂフテリア疑似症に就て

　緒言

　ヂフテリアは予防接種の普及と各種抗生物質の田現により非常に減少した。吾が臨床で本症に遭遇する事も極めて稀になり，気管切開施行例もこゝ数年間殆んどない。ところが昭和29年末から約半年間に7例のヂフテリア及び疑似症を経験しその内4例に気管切開を行つたので報告する。

Suyemitus and Asada summarized their ob-servations made on cases of true and pseudo-diphtheria among patients who sought services of their clinic within the period of 6 months beginning December, 1954 as follows:

1. In comparison to the reports in literature the number of cases of diphtheria that involved larynx and trachea appeared to be larger.

2. While vaccination against diphtheria is not an absolute guarantee against this specific infection, the fact that a definite degree in decrease of infectious incidence that has occurred in recent years since institution of vaccination cannot be ignored.

3. There seems to be an element of danger in depending upon ilotycin alone for the- rapy of diphtheria. It is a question that, whether or not this agent is potent enough to cope with a situation so serious in na- ture. It is highly necessary that one should be equiped with a simple laboratory method by which to derive a definite diag- nosis when diphtheria is questioned.
