耳性化膿性脳膜炎の4例，殊に側頭骨の病理組織学的所見に就て

　緒言

　昭和23年の1年間に我々は耳性化膿性腦膜炎の4例に遭遇して，從來我々が提唱して來た側頭骨炎根治手術を施し，更に「ペ」の使用により2例は治癒し，2例は不幸の轉帰をとつた．而して手術時に掻爬して得た側頭骨各部の組織学的檢索を行い，從來我々が提唱して來た側頭骨炎なる名称が妥当である事を確信した．

　又組織学的に治癒機轉の旺盛な2例は治癒し，破壞機轉の旺盛な2例は（尤も側頭葉膿瘍を伴つていたが）死亡した．

Niho and Niho demonstrated from examina-tion of granulation tissues obtained on curettage of mastoid bone and bones of petrous pyramid at the time of operation in four cases of cereb-ral meningitis of otic origin that, microscopical-ly, inflammatory changes found in these tssues were osteitis and endostitis alike in all speci-mens, though the degree of involvement among them may have somewhat differed.

The treatment in these cases, therefore, were directed to elimination of diseased foci in the temporal bone, thereby, preventing bacterial invasion into cranial structures from such sou-rses; administration of penicillin parenterally by intra-arterial method; and, instillation of neoulized penicillin, intra spinally.
