I．緒言

　著者らは既にDCS（Dorsum Column Stimulation）が遷延性意識障害例の臨床症状を改善し，局所脳血流量の増加，及び髄液中のカテコールアミン代謝を賦活させる可能性が強いことを報告^4,5）した．

　以後症例を重ね，現在まで23例の遷延性意識障害例にDCS療法を行った．そして現在までに8例の臨床的改善を認めた．

Abstract

We have already reported that DCS (Dorsum Col-umn Stimulation) alleviates the clinical symptoms of patients in vegetative status. Since then, we have accumulated information about 23 cases that have been treated by DCS therapy.

In this paper, we describe the clinical outcome and compare cases where the treatment was effective with those where it was non-effective to evaluate the indica-tions for further use of this treatment.

Results: 1) Eight of these cases showed good clinical improve-ment.
