I．はじめに

　Kirkaldy-Willisら^1）の国際分類によれば，lumbar ca-nal stenosisの病因として，congenital／developmentalstenosisおよびacquired stenosisに大きく二分される．lumbar canal stenosisが家族性に発生したとする報告は，英語圏の論文を探した限りではVerbiest^5），Varu-ghese^4）の2例を数えるにすぎない．われわれは最近同胞6名のうち3名をlumbar canal stenosisと診断し手術を行ったが，そのうち2名は急性対麻痺に対する緊急手術であった．しかも残る3名のうち1名の女性は頸椎管狭窄を有することが判明した．他の2名の男性は，それぞれ腰痛および上肢痛を有していることから脊椎疾患が強く疑われた．さらに特異な点は手術例の全3名に頸椎のnarrowingをも証明できたことである．このような家族発生例はspinal canal stenosisのpathogenesisに遺伝的影響の存在を示唆する稀な症例と考えられたので文献例と対比しつつ報告する．

We reported three brothers with lumbar canal stenosisout of six brothers. The three brothers had undergonelaminectomy of the lumbar spine. Two of the three whowere operated had to undergo emergency operation becauseof acute onset of paraplegia and micturition disturbance.At surgery we found thick and hypertrophic lamina atstenotic portion of the lumbar spine in case 1 and case 2and pseudospondylolysthesis in case 3. These threebrothers were also found to have narrow cervical canal.
