CT diagnosis of the cerebral abscess.

はじめに

　脳膿瘍は今日でも比較的高い死亡率を示しており，その治療の成否は多くの場合早期発見と正確な局在部位の診断によるとされている。今回31個の脳膿瘍のCT所見を検討した結果，これらには比較的特徴的なパターンがあり，その診断のみでなく治療効果の判定に関しても，CTスキャンが臨床上，きわめて有効と考えられたので報告する。

Abstract

Cerebral pyogenic abscess is not common, but it carries a high morbidity and mortality. Suc-cessful therapy of brain abscesses often depends on early detection and accurate localization. Prior to the introduction of CT scan the early diagnosis of brain abscesses has been difficult or non-specific using other neuroradiologic techniques. Review of a large series of CT scans in patients with pyogenic brain abscess reveals that there arerelatively specific CT scan characteristics indicative of pyogenic abscess and that CT is probably the most sensitive diagnostic method available today.
