　前立腺癌症例をLH-RHアナログによる単独治療を行った群35例と，LH-RHアナログと放射線外照射を併用した群11例に分けて，経腹的超音波走査による前立腺容積を計測し，その経時的変化を両群で比較した。併用群では治療前の容積に対する治療後の容積減少率は，36か月までは単独治療群に比べ有意に低値であったが，48か月以降は両群に有意差はなかった。LH-RHアナログに放射線外照射を併用することで，より早期に原発巣の縮小効果が出現した。

Patients with prostatic cancer treated with the LH-RH analogue alone in 35 patients were compared with ll patients treated with the LH-RH analogue plus external irradiation. The prostatic volume measured by trans-abdominal ultrasonography was compared sequentially after the treatment. The volume reduction rate was sig-nificantly greater in the combined therapy group until 36 months after the treatment, but no significant difference was observed after 48 months.It seemed that, the combina-tion of an LH-RH analogue and external irradiation caused a more rapid decrease in the volume of the primary prostatic tumor.
