無症候性顕微鏡的血尿824症例（男性：334例，女性：490例）に対し，理学的検査，検尿，尿細胞診，血液検査，IVP（もしくはDIP），腎超音波断層法および膀胱鏡により検討した。悪性腫瘍24例（2.9％）（腎癌1例，尿管癌1例，膀胱癌20例，前立腺癌2例），慢性腎盂腎炎79例，慢性糸球体疾患74例を含む高有意義疾患227例（27.5％），遊走腎125例，腎結石症59例，尿道狭窄34例を含む中有意義疾患245例（29.7％），顕微鏡的血尿との関係が疑問である低有意義疾患224例（27.2％）が発見された。222例（26.9％）にはなんらの泌尿器科的異常も認められなかった。
無症候性顕微鏡的血尿症例には，尿細胞診，IVP，腎超音波検査を，20歳以上の際には膀胱鏡も加えて施行すべきと考えられた。
Complete urological examinations including cystoscopy were performed on 824 patients consisting of 334 males and 490 females with the complaint of asymptomatic microscopic hematuria. Of 824 patients reviewed, 227 (27.5%) were found to have highly significant lesions, which consisted of 24 (2.9%) genitourinary neoplasms (1 renal cell cancer, 1 ureteral cancer, 20 bladder cancers and 2 prostatic cancers), 79 chronic pyelonephritis, 74 chronic glomerular nephropathy.
While 245 (29.7%) patients had moderately significant lesions consisting of 125 movable kidneys, 59 renal stones, 34 urethral strictures and others.
