Ⅰ．緒言

　1564年，Cabrolにより，剖検から睾丸のない症例が見い出されている。通常，偏側性の睾丸欠損を単睾丸症（Monorchidism）また，両側性の場合を無睾丸症（Aorchidism）と臨床上，呼称されている。本邦における最近の報告例の多くは，偏側性，両側性を含めて「睾丸欠損症」と広く定義されている傾向にある。その頻度は稀有と考えられていたが，近年，その報告例に，しばしば相遇する。

　私達は偏側の陰のう内容欠如と精液検査を希望して受診した青年にいわゆる「単睾丸」を経験した。自験例と本症について述べてみたい。

A case of monorchism in a youg man, who wished to have his semen examined, due to absence of unilateral scrotal content at marriageable age, was reported. No other anomalies of the urogenital organ besides unilateral anorchism was noticed and is the 40th case in the Japanese literature.

The differetial diagnosis are quite difficult in those case with absence of unilateral scrotal content and operative procedurs are necessary to confirm the condition. It is dangerous to treat this condition as undescended testicle by the easy going way and may be considered careless, as a urologist. The essential points for diagnosis were stressed.
